Overview
A framework for coordinating human and AI agents to execute against shared context across systems and teams.
Delivery breaks down at the seams between teams, systems, and agents. Work is planned in one place, executed in another, and reviewed in a third — and the context that connects them degrades with every handoff. Harmonic Orchestration addresses this by coordinating execution across agents and teams against a shared context layer, so decisions made in planning remain visible and actionable throughout delivery.
What Harmonic Orchestration addresses
Harmonic Composition ensures that a single system has a clear destination, durable capability definitions, and structured context that survives handoffs. Harmonic Orchestration operates at the next level up: when multiple systems, teams, or agents are executing in parallel, it provides the coordination layer that keeps them aligned to shared intent.
The questions Orchestration is designed to answer:
- How do human and AI agents divide and hand off work without losing context at the boundary?
- How does a team know which agent is working on what, and whether it is still on track?
- How are decisions made by one agent surfaced to others who need them before work diverges?
- How does shared context get maintained as the number of active agents scales?
Harmonic Orchestration is in active development. Detailed documentation — including the coordination model, agent session patterns, and handoff protocols — will be published here as the framework matures.
How it relates to the other methods
Operates within a single system. Defines the destination, capability structure, and context layer that Orchestration coordinates across.
Coordinates execution across multiple systems, teams, and agents. Assumes Composition is running inside each system it touches.
Operates at portfolio scale. Maps capabilities and strategic intent across the wider landscape that Orchestration executes within.
Quality Gates
The six quality dimensions a Beat must satisfy in Harmonic Composition — Distinctive, Harmonious, Substantial, Durable, Clear, and Strategically Aligned.
